Magnetology 1.9.5

"Magnetology" is an application that provides users with the ability to track and monitor the forecast of geomagnetic storms and the state of Earth's geomagnetic field.

Understanding the importance of such information is crucial, as geomagnetic storms can have a negative impact on human health. These storms are known to cause various symptoms including aches, dizziness, rapid heart rate, and abnormal blood pressure. Individuals with pre-existing conditions related to the blood, cardiovascular system, and autonomic nervous system are particularly vulnerable to the effects of these storms. Additionally, factors such as overall health status, stress levels, physical and emotional fatigue, and natural predisposition can influence the degree of impact on an individual.

It's not just humans who are affected by geomagnetic storms; communication systems, navigation equipment, and power grids can also be disrupted. Particularly vulnerable are drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) which can experience adverse effects due to these storms.

Having access to accurate forecasts for geomagnetic storms enables individuals to make informed decisions, avoid excessive physical stress, and protect themselves from potential negative consequences. This is where our application comes into play.

Understanding the nature of geomagnetic storms is essential in comprehending their impact. The Earth's geomagnetic field changes are influenced by the Sun, and the intensity of this influence varies based on ongoing processes on the solar surface.

The strength of disturbances in the geomagnetic field is measured by the Kp index. Ranging from 0 to 9, where 0 denotes no disturbances and 9 represents extremely strong perturbations in Earth's geomagnetic field, disturbances with a Kp index of 5 and above are classified as storms. Astoundingly, there can be up to 50 geomagnetic storms in a single year!
